How to use Wagyu Beef Souvenir Service

Please read carefully before ordering.

This service allows customers departing Japan and entering U.S. or the Republic of Singapore to bring fresh Wagyu Beef back to your home by having ZIPAIR Tokyo (hereinafter “ZIPAIR”) takes care of necessary export quarantine procedures on your behalf.

  • 1. Eligibility for the Service
    • This service is available to passengers flying from Narita Airport to U.S. or the Republic of Singapore on ZIPAIR flights.
      • a)The weight limit for meat transported from Japan to U.S. is 22.6 kg/50 lb per person.
      • b) For meat transported from Japan to the Republic of Singapore, the limit is 5 kg/11 lb per person.
    • This service is not available to customers who are transiting through Narita Airport.
  • 2. Product Information
    • 1)Wagyu Beef Details:
      Manufacturers: Meat Processing Establishments for Export, approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Japan.
      Supplier: JA ZEN-NOH MEAT FOODS CO., LTD.
      Wholesaler: Tsuchiya Co., Ltd.
      Distributor: ZIPAIR Tokyo Inc.
      Quality Control: The Wagyu Beef is vacuum-packed and frozen, processed at certified Meat Processing Establishments for Export, following strict guidelines set by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. This ensures the highest quality control.
      Note: Consumption of Wagyu Beef within Japan is not permitted.
    • 2) Expiration Date: The Wagyu Beef remains fresh for 96 hours from the time of packaging when kept in a refrigerated environment. Always verify the expiration date on the packaging.
    • 3) Cancellation Policy: Customers can cancel their orders for convenience up to 72 hours prior to their departure.
    • 4) This product is not duty-free.
  • 3. Cold storage during carriage
    • 1) Products during carriage are sealed in a polystyrene box together with an ice pack at -51℃.
      The surface temperature is controlled at approximately 5℃ or lower. Below are the refrigerated times for your reference on each sales route, in which approximately 5℃ or lower surface temperatures are maintained from the arrival time.

    • 2) Immediately store the product in a refrigerator upon unpacking it from the polystyrene box.
      Please note that we cannot assure the quality of the product if it deteriorates after opening.
    • 3) Consume the beef promptly after opening the vacuum pack. Quality cannot be guaranteed if
      the product is refrozen after opening.
    • 4) Ensure that the beef is cooked thoroughly before consumption. Consuming undercooked beef
      may pose health risks, for which we cannot guarantee safety.
    • 5) The guaranteed refrigeration conditions for our Wagyu Beef start from the time of packing. Please check the packaging for the specific refrigeration time assured for your product. A refrigerated environment is defined as maintaining the surface temperature of the Wagyu Beef at approximately 5℃ or lower. The guaranteed refrigerated time is 24 hours for sliced and steak meat, and extends to 28 hours for block meat.
  • 4. Procedure for Pick-Up and Process for Departures from Japan to U.S./Singapore
    • 1)Customers must arrive at the Narita Airport check-in counter at least one hour before their flight’s departure time to verify and check in their purchased product.
    • 2) After verifying your purchased product, please proceed to check it in as checked baggage at the check-in counter. Please note that the checked baggage fees for your purchased product will be waived.
    • 3) Upon arrival, your purchased product will be available as checked baggage. Please ensure that it is collected at the baggage claim area of the arrival airport.
    • 4) Upon arrival, you might need to complete a customs declaration for your purchased product. Please ensure you comply with the customs declaration procedures per your destination country’s regulations.
    • 5) Please review the photo displaying the contents attached to the packaging. The following documents are enclosed in the package.
      For United States of America:
      a)“EXPORT QUARANTINE CERTIFICATE” Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japanese Government.”
      b)A copy of the“Official Meat-Inspection Certificate for Chilled / Frozen Meat and Meat Byproducts” issued in the name of the Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
      c)Documents issued by the United States Department of Agriculture indicating the requirements for beef for personal consumption to be exported from Japan to the United States as a portable commodity Beef for personal consumption exported from Japan to the U.S.
      For the Republic of Singapore:
      a) “EXPORT QUARANTINE CERTIFICATE” Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japanese Government.”

      Under the guidelines of the ‘Export Inspection Procedure for Livestock Products’ established by the Animal Quarantine Station, a Livestock Quarantine Officer stationed at the Animal Quarantine Station in departure airports (among other locations) carries out an export quarantine inspection and issues an Export Quarantine Certificate.

      Facilities certified by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare for complying with the criteria specified in the ‘Guidelines for Handling Meat Exported to the United States’ (as of December 26, 2023, there are 16 such facilities nationwide) carry out slaughtering, processing, packing, and sealing. Inspectors from local governments, designated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, are responsible for issuing the certifications.

      Issued by the United States Department of Agriculture, this document certifies that passengers traveling from Japan can bring beef purchased in Japan into the United States as part of their baggage, provided all designated conditions are satisfied.
  • 5. Liability
    • 1) The product carriage shall be handled as Checked Baggage under Article 8.3 of the ZIPAIR Conditions of Carriage. Liability of ZIPAIR shall also be subject to the provisions under Article 13 of the ZIPAIR Conditions of Carriage. However, in the event that:
      • a) there is a flight cancellation or the baggage cannot be loaded onto the aircraft, the product will be refunded;
      • b) the customer receives the product bought at the arrival airport after the guaranteed refrigeration time specified in 3.5) due to flight delays, diversions, etc., a refund will be made, and ZIPAIR will collect the product;
      • c) if there are fluctuations in the exchange rate at the time of refund, the amount at the time of purchase may differ from the amount at the time of refund.
      • d) if customers do not collect their purchased product at the arrival airport, it will be held until specific times based on the destination:
        For LAX/SJC/HNL, until 12:00 (noon) local time on the day of arrival.
        For SIN, until 12:00 (noon) local time on the day following arrival.
        For SFO, until 19:00 (7:00 pm) local time on the day of arrival.
        If the product is not collected within these time frames, it will be disposed of.
